For best performance, ensure the mounting of your antenna is not shielded by the vehicle body parts e.g., Mount at the top of bull bar, (not at bumper level) If you are mounting on the guard, mount it away from the pillar to avoid shielding or gutter mount on roof level (which is by far the best owing to its height). N.B. Failure to observe these simple guidelines will affect the antenna tuning point thus affecting the radiation pattern and performance of your radio.
